This beautiful pendant has been handcrafted by Michel Girardin using New Zealand Pāua shell.
Pāua shell is renowned for its vivid opalescent colours, is a unique species of the Abalone family found only in New Zealand. Michel uses the Pāua shells sourced from Stewart Island in the far south, where the finest shells are often found.

Michel learnt his jewellery making skills at Art School of La Chaux de Fonds and he also spent his time at the Technicum of La Chaux de Fonds learning all about the mechanical watches. Later in life, Michel increased his knowlege of gemologie at the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and he became an Alumni member.
Now, Michel lives with his family in Auckland, New Zealand and he creates unique contemporary pieces using selected best medium, such as New Zealand pāua shells and greenstone.
